I was really a huge fan of The Hills, so I couldn't wait to check out the new spinoff The City on MTV. I really love this new drama and it has a great cast of new characters. The City focuses on the character Whitney from The Hills who has just moved to New York to start a new job as a fashion stylist and you get to experience her first love, new friends and a great new job and apartment. She meets uptown girls and downtown crowds and you can wander through the socialites and rollercoasters of her new found love. I really like The City because it is a lot like The Hills, but with new characters and a lot of new drama....

couturedoggie says "Seven Pounds Will Smith" about Seven Pounds

The movie seven pounds with will smith was disappointing. I am a big will smith fan I loved him in Hitch, Hancock, The pursuit of happyness and also bad Boys. Will is such a good actor but this movie was a big flop. According to IMD.com will smith was nominated for a 2009 Naacp Image award for seven pounds. The movie took off slow and I did not know what the movie was about until the last 5 min. of the movie. I was not entertained at all but just mad because I was expecting so much more, I wanted to be entertained. I still don't know why the movie was called seven pounds. I could wait until the DVD comes out and rent it but that would be a waist of my money.
...

My husband, teenage son and I couln't wait to see Finding Nemo in theaters. We were not disappointed. We did attend with a niece aged 4 who is not exposed to many films. She was so afraid of the barracuda in the beginning that her mom took her out to the bathroom. However, no other children we know reacted that way. I could hardly wait for the DVD which we now own and watch frequently. Every adult and child who visits our home and views it loves it as well. The near reality and vibrant colors of this clay mation movie was suberb! We're all scuba divers and this film was blast for us! The vivid fish reminded us of diving in the Red Sea. Kids & adults alike should enjoy it!
...

Finding Nemo is a great kid movie, its a hit with the family and all my friends. cant wait to watch it over and over. Dorey the fish is a great hit with the kids, she is just a part of the movie that needs to be in there. Reminds me of a friend of mine. Nemo is a little clown fish that grows up without a mother and the father smothers him to much. Nemo also has a smaller fin than the other one so it could be for the kids that are different, which means that different is a good thing. It helped Nemo out of the tank with the other fish, which were in the Dentist office. But i think my favorite was when they were with the turtles. He was righteous
...

I really can't tell what the appeal to this movie was. I think I heard somewhere that it was about food and that piqued my interest. But then I learned what the movie was really about and then I was genuinely interested in seeing it.

The movie Last Holiday is both funny and sad at the same time. The broad range of emotions is nice since it is actually a comedy. Georgia (Queen Latifah) works in a department store in New Orleans, sings in her church choir and adds items to her "Possibilities" scrapbook. Her possibilities scrapbook is filled with things on her life to do list. She is very passionate about cooking, so naturally her possibilities scrapbook is filled with culinary passions and travels. She takes pictures of all the gourmet meals she makes - even though she won't eat them. No, she is on a diet. She cooks just for the love of it and gives the gourmet dishes to her neighbor to enjoy.

Something else that fills her possibilities scrapbook is the man of her dreams...
...

bkovacs says "Interesting concept but a slow movie" about The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Over the holidays, I went to the theater to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The bottom line for me is that there is a good movie inside this overly long film and it doesn't help that it drips with somewhat forced local color.

Although the major plot point in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is unusual -- Benjamin Button ages backwards from old age -- the telling of the story is pretty conventional. The story unfolds as an old woman clearly on her deathbed asks her daughter Caroline (Julia Ormond) to read a diary. The film then flashes back to scenes in the diary, which tell the tale of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt) growing younger over the years. The old woman is Daisy (Cate Blanchett), who loved Benjamin from her childhood and eventually crossed temporal paths with him to the extent that they had a child together.

Many scenes are interesting, from Benjamin's first employment on a tugboat, to an early affair in Russia, to his life with Daisy. Unfortunately for the film, they...
...

Sanctuary is the first of its kind. The shows first 8 webisodes(2 hours in total) were released online in 2007. As i sat there watching the mostly green screen sets go by I was thrust into a wonderful world of Helen Magnus ,played by Amanda Tapping. She is a 158 everythingoligyst. And over the course of this 2 hour premier season we were taken to a new hight in the evolution of the science fiction searis. We meet many different creatures from Helen's butler(a cave man big foot cross) to Jack the Ripper(now called John Druitt) who has the ability to travel through rips in the space time continuum. This show has begun to lean on some old series(now that it is on the Sci-Fi channel weekly) such as the X-Men but with a new modern twist. Helen lives in a large well Sanctuary where the term "Sanctuary for all" is not taken lightly. If you liked the X-Men movies or any kind of sci-fi having to do with mythical creatures this show is one for you.
...

As a Batman fan from birth I am biased when it comes to The Dark Knight. BUT These latest additions to the Batman library (Batman Begins & The Dark Knight) stand out from the crowd, they even beat out Tim Burton's classics. Christian Bale makes the Dark Knight seem more human than ever, although his Bat voice is a bit exasperating. Heath Ledger IS the Joker. He made that character more tangible than ever. This film is up there with the Godfather in terms of character development. You know who every one is and you feel for all of them. After watching you feel like part of you is The Dark Knight, but there is still another part of you that is The Joker.

To commemorate this film and Heath's amazing performance I got the Batman logo tattooed on my wrist.
...

Take one: The Duchess movie is based off of Amanda Foreman's novel of the same name. The story chronicles the life of the 18th-century Duchess of Devonshire, Georgiana Cavendish. Keira Knightley, best known for her role as Elizabeth Swan in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, plays the Duchess.

Take two: Thanks to the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, I was curious about what other characters Keira Knightley could play, hence my decision to watch The Duchess. I was not disappointed with Keira or the other actors. I felt the casting for the movie was appropriate. Undoubtedly, Keira's name alone helped drive people to the theaters, as it drove me to rent it.

The film itself was entertaining and intriguing. Georgiana was best known for her beauty, charisma and sense of style. She was actively involved in politics and had an affinity for gambling. The movie brushes the surface on each of these aspects of her life. However, the primary focus of the film was Georgiana's relationship with her......

My 2 year old daughter who had never seen nor heard of TinkerBell saw the comercial for the TinkerBell Movie and IMMEDIATELY wanted it. So we waited a month for it to come out, knowing it was a straight to DVD movie we didn't have very high expectations. So, we buy it and sit down to watch it with our daughter who was SOOO excited. It is a darling movie. She has taken it with her to her grandparents homes and to the babysitter's house - EVERYONE LOVES THIS MOVIE. We've owned it for just over 2 months now and our daughter has watched seen this movie easily 50 times. I would recommend this movie to anyone with small children. Even my 3 year old nephew liked it. Disney did a great job!...

My wife and I enjoy animals, and even allow ourselves to be the subjects of the two cats who run our household. When I spotted an interesting-sounding animal-related documentary on Netflix, I first put it in my queue, then watched it as an instant download. The film was The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill and it's a good one.

The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill is about San Francisco-resident Mark Bittner and a flock of wild parrots that he adopted over the years. The parrots are cherry-headed conures with one exception -- one is a blue-crested conure. Bittner is as much the focus of the film as the parrots, and all are colorful and worth watching. He came to San Francisco as a rock-star wannabe at the end of the hippie era in the 1970s, and subsequently lived off the streets. Without a job, he lived as the property caretaker in a ramshackle cottage that is scheduled for renovation. Once renovation on the cottage began, Bittner was on the street again and the parrots lost their human source...
...

Sometimes it is a hit or miss because of the volume of yoga workout DVDs on the market today. I was watching FIT TV channel one day and caught a yoga routine by Sara Ivanhoe. She is very easy to follow and helps you to relax during the poses. I decided to do a search on her yoga workout DVDs and ended up purchasing the Candlelight Yoga.

Sara Ivanhoe is a certified yoga instructor. She describes her fitness philosophy as "Yoga is like a marathon, not a sprint; slow and safe persistence gives you the best results. The main thing is to have fun and keep your sense of humor. Enjoy and you're more likely to stick to it."

Sara Ivanhoe's focus is on breathing, flexibility, looseness and relaxation, not achieving the perfect pose.
LauraBelle says "Writing, a Great Cast, and an Adorable Dog Make for a Great Film" about Marley & Me: The Movie

I fashion myself sometimes more of a storyteller than a writer, and some of my favorite stories are the ones about the dog we had when my husband and I first got married. We were saving the marriage of my in-laws by taking this destructive dog off their hands, and in the process she nearly ruined ours, and we were newlyweds. I couldn't not think back through all of that while watching Marley & Me.

Maggie was a gorgeous English Setter mix, and I never thought about writing a book about our life with her, but watching Marley & Me, I'm realizing that I definitely had the same material. Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson star as Jennifer and John Grogan in the film version of Marley & Me. They're newlyweds, too, and she has a defined plan of how their lives will go, from marriage on down. To avoid the next natural step of starting a family, John gets her a puppy which he names after Bob Marley, but what he doesn't realize is that he wasn't avoiding anything. He was starting a family.

Jen is away......

Although not normally a Batman fan and tend to shy away from overly hyped films, I greatly enjoyed The Dark Knight. Granted, I mainly rented the DVD originally because my partner also wanted to see it. Interestingly enough she found it too dark for her taste--which I thought would have been obvious from the trailers. I, on the other hand, enjoy darker movies, which is probably one reason why I enjoyed the movie.

I also have to side with the masses and agree that the much-hyped Heath Ledger's Joker was fantastic (and yes, I do like psychopathic and freaky characters). I enjoyed Ledger's performance most out of all the actors. Very over the top, and I gotta say I loved the nurse get-up. I think this might be the only Heath Ledger movie I've seen, and I was very impressed by his performance.

While I love Gary Oldman, the police commissioner was more of a straight guy here so not too interesting here but still a strong performance. The only character I actually found...
...

deniseb66 says "Batman:the dark knight..Awesome Movie!" about Batman: the dark knight

Batman: the dark knight was a great movie. The plot line was written very good. Christian Bale was a perfect person to play Batman. Even though I didnt understand why he disguised his voice when he was in the Batman character. I dont remember that ever happening in any of the other Batman movies or the tv series either.

Heath Ledger was a superb actor to play the role of The Joker. No one could have did the role any more justice then he did for it.

Aaron Eckhart was a great Harvey Dent aka Two Face. I liked him better when he went into the Two Face role, he was great.

The plot of the movie was simple, basically some bad guys were in town, they were getting caught, they got tired of it, The Joker approached the bad guys, he offered his services to kill Batman. Eventually Harvey Dent gets involved trying to rid the town of the bad guys, he is injured, half of his face is gone, and then there comes Two Face. Dent becomes bad and decides to go after all the people that have hurt him.The...
...

deniseb66 says "Night of the Living Dead-Millenium Edition....Great As Always!" about Night of the Living Dead - Millenium Edition Super Review

Night of the Living Dead- Millenium Edition...This movie is always a great one to watch no matter how old the movie is or how old you get to be either. The original was released in 1968. George A. Romero always does his best with zombies. When Romero made this movie it was low budget, it still became one of the most heard of zombie movies. We all seem to love it because the zombies always come back to get more of the flesh. Its a simple movie really, a fallen satellite that has radiation has made the dead walk again..Also, the dead yearn for human flesh and when you get bitten by them, then you are one of them, the zombies too. As always, it has became one of the most seen zombie movies ever created.

...

I taped Cake when I saw it on my TV because I like Heather Graham, I enjoy silly movies about weddings, and I LOVE Cake! Unfortunately, the movie had very little to do with actual cake, but it was still a good watch.

Heather Graham stars as the biggest anti-wedding person ever. She runs away from any guy who seems like he wants to be serious. She even has to through some comments in at her friends wedding... "to Marriage... the Happy Tomb of Love". When her father gets sick, she feels compelled to help him run one of his many magazines. It turns out to be a Bridal magazine, but she still agrees to do it. Heather alienates the staff early on by trying to make many changes and put her real thoughts about marriage into the magazine... such as an article about Pre-Nups. Will she always be against love and marriage? Will she ever get along with her dad? And will she be able to stop the company from going under? You'll have to see for yourself!

I enjoy Heather Graham and she...
...
