Last House on the Left 1972 Directed by Wes Craven

Sandra Cassell, Lucy Grantham, David A. Hess. "Keep repeating, 'It's only a movie, it's only a movie'" was the famous tagline created for Craven's debut film, but used several times for other movies well into the 80s. Last House is a very crude film that is guaranteed to offend you on a variety of levels as it breaks many taboos of its day. It's a very loose adaptation of Ingmar Bergman's Virgin

The 1970s were a great decade for horror. There were still plenty of drive-ins and grindhouses needing a steady supply of the gothic, the ghostly, and the gory, so there were a ton of worthy films from which to choose. Awesome Horror Flicks in the 70's

I think one of the most scariest movies of all times came out in the 70's; The Exorcist ! ! ! This movie haunted my sleep on many a night! lol

Another reality/horror flick of the 70's; Jaws ! ! ! do, do.. do, do..... I think most people know the theme music! lol

Hope some of you agree. : ) As stated in many reviews that I've read, these two films are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to some of the best Horror flicks of the 70's!

i started out with dracula, frankenstein, the werewolf and the mummy. they were scary when i was a kid. then, i saw "the night of the living dead" in 1968. i was in a cold sweat all night long. it was in black and white but i think that's what made it so creepy. now, its all about blood and guts. the more blood, the better. my favorites are "the day of the dead" and "dawn of the dead". both "dawn of the dead" movies are great. if you like to be scared, these will chill you to the bone.

All the Psycho movies are the best. They really keep you on your toes and they are very well written. They follow a very unique and clever pattern that really makes sense. These movies will terrify you and they are really, really good. These are a must see!!!!!

personally, i think the chuckie doll movies were for most the scariest. Just the thought of a little boys doll coming to life absolutely horrifies me. I could never amagine this really happen! Forget Seed of Chucky, Bride of Chucky, and the other two sequels that came after this surprisingly good horror romp. Tom Holland (Fright Night) directed this horror romp, in which the soul of a deranged killer inhabits a child's doll. Child's Play manages to boast a few genuine scares and add some creepy atmosphere to boot, with Brad Dourif doing great work as the voice of killer "good guy" doll Chucky.... read full review »
