My husband kept saying, "This is the greatest movie EVER!"
I wouldn't go that far, but Iron Man is loads of fun, and seeing how Robert Downey Jr. gets suited up to be a super-hero is worth the ticket price alone. Somehow I missed an entire original exposure to the Iron Man character (I was probably too busy with Barbie or my banana bike) but that didn't take away from the film experience at all. This movie is rock-'em-sock-'em fun, with an updated look at the classic "superhero-with-a-smart-broad-who's crazy-about-him" story line.

Bottom-Line: Modernized (the threat is now the ubiquitous evil terrorist) Iron Man has been brought into the 21st Century in grand intelligent style.
Iron Man, like most Marvel superhero characters sprang from the mind of Stan Lee and first made an appearance in 1963. The movie directed by Jon Favreau begins in the here and now with essentially the same back story: genius weapon-maker Tony Stark (Downey Jr.) is visiting Afghanistan to show off a new weapon the military when he is kidnapped by terrorist led by Raza (Faran Tahir) and his heart is damaged by shrapnel.

read full review »Iron Man...hum...I have to be honest here folks, I wasn't that impressed with the movie. I don't mean to sound nasty here but I actually found the first part of the movie pretty boring. The movie starts out with Stark, (Robert Downey) who looks absolutely horrible! Did I mention how horrible he looks??? I guess all that wild Hollywood life has turned a once nice looking man into eeewwwwww!!!!!! Sorry, I got a little side-tracked. Anyway as I was saying, in the movie it shows Stark in a Hummer, being escorted by the military to some undisclosed place, (all we know at this point is that it's...

The movie starts when genius inventor of weapons Tony Stark is kidnapped by terrorists in the mountains of Afghanistan. The terrorists want him to build a missile for them, but Tony has other plans.
To save his life he must escape. Instead of building the missile of destruction, he creates a suit of armor for himself and from there the movie is just non stop action.
Robert Downey Jr., gives a fantastic performance in this awesome movie. The movie is co-starred with Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrance Howard and Jeff Bridges. Ironman...
read full review »Ever since seeing the trailer on TV I have wanted to see this movie. The hero is a wealthy industrialist whose views on his company change after he is taken captive in Afghanistan. Under the guise of building a weapon for his captors, he builds an iron suit with which to escape. After he escapes and is resuced he halts production of weapons from his company and begins building another iron suit. Meanwhile someone in is company is secretly selling his company's weapons to terrorists. I won't go any further as it could ruin the movie for you.
The movie combines humor, action and some drama...
read full review »Iron Man is the one of the best movies I have ever seen. Marvel has suceeded in putting out another awesome comic book to movie translation. The movie makers did a great job at adapting the comic to current times and trends.
This movie has alot of action for those action lovers. It has a lot of future tech for those of us who like to see what could be possible in the future and there is some things that are physically impossible, but who cares because it all looks so good.
To be honest, I did not want to see this movie.
I do like action flicks, comic book movies can be great (the Reeves Superman series was awesome) but Iron Man? I did not even know the back story.
Before going to the movie I only knew that RDjr was in it. I had no idea that Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridge and Terrence Howard. Clearly I was not paying attention to the trailers.
I liked the ironic nods to the historical Iron Man (my sweetie is a font of all types of super hero knowledge), but I also like the fact that it was shot in the present day with contemporary bag guys.
There was enough comedy...
read full review »So i nearly soiled myself with joy the first time i saw a trailer for Iron Man and to be honest...it didn't suck. And by that i mean i actually enjoyed the movie despite my initial cringing suspicion that this was going to be yet another Marvel Comics 'big show no go' attempt at translating adolescent pulp entertainment onto the big screen.
First off the casting was spot on. Tony Stark (Iron Man) is known to be, by anyone who knows their comics, quite the womanizing alcoholic and who better to fill that role than good ol' Robert Downey Jr. the hollywood rehab kingpin himself. Jeff Bridges...
